  • Abstract
    In the computer market open interfaces have paved the way for intense competition with dynamic and rapid market evolution. Open switch interfaces could in a similar way change the market conditions for the switch and router industry and in addition result in a more diversified telecommunication market. This lecture provides an overview of the new system architecture that the MSF, Multiservice Switching Forum, is establishing and describes how the architecture relates to other initiatives for open architectures in the communications industry
