  • Abstract
    We present numerical calculations of the impact that optical nonlinearities have on orthogonal transmission formats that facilitate all-optical switching in wavelength division multiplexed networks (WDM), such as Frequency Shift Keying with Intensity Modulation (FSK/IM). The main nonlinearity under consideration is the Kerr effect in optical fibers.
