Abstract :
This paper describes the possibility to influence the torque ripple of transverse flux motors by shifting of stator elements. Two structural designs are described which reduce the torque ripple by demanded influence of relative fundamental and harmonic content. These two methods are called "symmetrical shift" and "asymmetrical shift" respectively. The second one offers more degrees of freedom in the arrangement of the stator poles. Calculations show that an optimisation with respect to the amplitude of the fundamental and harmonic waves can be realised by asymmetrical shift.
