Abstract :
Equivalent end-ring resistances between two adjacent rotor bars are studied by using the finite element method. Because the end-ring resistances are in fact uneven along the circumferential direction and change in a large scale with the variation of the current distribution in the end-ring area, it is essential to consider their effect on the performances of induction motors. In order to qualify their impact, a non-uniform end-ring resistance model for the rotor circuit is proposed and has been coupled with the magnetic field computation. The validity of the developed end-ring model is demonstrated by the harmonic and performance analysis on the shaded pole induction motors.
