            Abstract : 
When lightning discharges occur in the atmosphere, the polarization plane of a propagating beam undergoes rotation due to the magneto-optical effect. A high-precision polarization lidar for measuring the rotation has been developed. The lidar uses in-line optics with a polarization-independent optical circulator.
