Abstract :
Evolution of the laser sources and associated measurement tools provide new opportunities for absorption-based gas sensors. This paper highlights recent work by the authors using mid-IR sources that target two emerging market segments for monitoring major atmospheric species: (1) compact, low-cost sensors for distributed networks, balloons, and unmanned air vehicles; (2) ultra-precise sensors for monitoring local small changes in background levels.
