  • Abstract
    A combined rate and power control scheme based on the convergence criterion for multimedia direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) systems which offer services with different transmission rates (VBR or CBR) and quality of service (QoS) requirements is proposed. Optimization criterion and the solution are formulated for the given multimedia system. Analytical and numerical results show that the proposed scheme gives better performance in terms of system capacity compared with the conventional power control algorithm, while still maintaining the same average rates and required QoS
