Abstract :
This talk will describe recent progress at the UK\´s Central Laser Facility, concentrating on high power and ultrashort pulse development projects. Extension of the Vulcan glass laser from 1 Petawatt to 10 Petawatts, commissioning the Astra-Gemini Ti:Sapphire PW laser, and plans for a European scale "fast ignition" fusion laser, HiPER, will be covered.
