Abstract
Recent advances in self-validating sensors and statistical process control algorithms have allowed a hierarchical process condition monitoring system to be developed. The operation of such a system is considered for two typical fault cases using a realistic simulation. In both cases, robust fault detection and diagnosis is demonstrated. Furthermore, it is shown how control and condition monitoring systems may utilise condition information to ensure continued process operation.
