Abstract
In the realistic environment of mobile communications, a CMA (constant modulus algorithm) adaptive array receives many constant modulus signals. Its capability to capture the desired signal is influenced by its initialization. In this paper, we suggest a new initial method which is based on Chebyshev antenna arrays for CMA arrays, on the conditions that the DOA (direction of arrival) of the desired signal is known. The results of simulation show that the new method can not only make a CMA array converge faster, but also control the CMA to converge on the desired signal even if the differences between the incident angles of desired signal and interference signals are small. So it is an effective and practical method
