Abstract :
In this presentation, we address prospects of quantum dots for nanophotonics with emphasis on quantum dot-based devices utilizing either ensembles of many quantum dots or single dots. After overview of historical progress in quantum dot research, the current states of the arts of quantum dot lasers are discussed including quantum dot lasers with photonic crystal nano-cavity. In addition, we discuss recent advances in quantum information devices based on the quantum dots such as single photon emitters and entanglement photon pair generators.
