Abstract
The paper describes a multi-channel sounder designed and implemented at UMIST. The sounder operates simultaneously at the two frequency bands allocated for UMTS systems and is to be used for angle of arrival measurements using either sectored antennas or an antenna array. Multiple transmit multiple receive antenna measurements will also be carried out. Preliminary results demonstrating the performance of the sounder are presented from various back to back tests. Measurements in an indoor environment using sectored antennas shows the spatial multipath structure over six antennas each covering sixty degrees of angular spread.
