Abstract :
The paper describes the use of a layer-based approach to managing CDMA uplink network resources. The aim of the proposed method is to specify an integrated call allocation and admission control algorithm for a CDMA network with the ability to tailor-make solutions based on network load and topology. The paper includes investigations on the use of an auction-based method for the allocation and admission of calls into a 3G CDMA mobile network. The bids incorporate adjustments based on the constraints on the assignment and allocation strategy. The work described is intended to be part of an agent architecture designed to control and manage UMTS networks but also works as a standalone method.
