Abstract :
This paper presents a frequency exhaustive insertion strategy and a frequency selective insertion strategy for fixed channel assignment (FCA) of cellular networks. With the insertion strategies, an improvement of over 10% has been shown in many cases in comparison with the traditional frequency exhaustive strategy. The presented algorithms using the insertion strategies have yielded optimal assignments in some cases and have shown better performance than many other FCA algorithms in configuring real GSM systems
