Abstract
This paper introduces the concept of co-operative networks. It looks mainly at the co-operation between 3G and broadcast networks and 3G and W-LAN networks as possible early scenarios for what are considered as ´beyond 3G´ networks. The commercial drivers for considering such systems are discussed. Some possible scenarios for each type of co-operation are overviewed. The paper concludes with a look at terminal and regulatory issues and also introduces a trial in preparation for a 3G - DAB co-operation.
