Abstract :
Image acquisition devices have gained ground. The variety of raster data sources (scanners, digital cameras) with original formats and interfaces has created a problem of integrating these devices with the software of image processing. The universal method of communication between these devices and software products is necessary. In 1992 the Twain interface was developed. This interface has allowed connecting raster data sources with image processing software. Now the Twain interface has become the de facto standard. The paper discusses the Twain software architecture
