Abstract :
This paper highlights features of the baseline power system design for the Giotto spacecraft together with design constraints imposed by the mission profile. The solar array regulator and the battery charge and discharge regulator designs are described in some detail together with justification for the selected configurations and some relevant experimental test results. In the Industrial Consortium led by BAe (Britain), the firm FIAR is responsible for the design manufacturing and testing of the Power Supply subsystem of Giotto.
