Abstract
Through a combination of analytical and numerical minimization procedures, a converter design that results in the minimum total converter loss – including core loss, winding loss, capacitor-ESR loss, and various losses in the semiconductor switches – is obtained. Because the initial phase involves analytical minimization, the computation time required by the subsequent phase of numerical minimization is considerably reduced in this combination approach. The effect of various loss parameters on the optimum values of the design variables is also examined.
