Abstract
A novel algorithm of infrared image enhancement based on fuzzy sets theory is proposed in this paper. First, Pal and King´s algorithm was analyzed and its drawbacks were summarized. Then, the local fuzzy entropy of image was calculated for determining the threshold. On this basis, the new membership function of fuzzy was defined and infrared image was enhanced effectively by fuzzy enhancement transformation, in which the disadvantages of Pal and King´s traditional fuzzy enhancement method were avoided. The experimental results indicated this fuzzy enhancement algorithm can enhance the contrast of infrared image noticeably and the details of infrared image are reserved better.
