Abstract :
The gain/phase transients of InAs/GaAs quantum-dot semiconductor-optical-amplifiers are analysed using a 2-colour heterodyne pump-probe arrangement. Key processes highlighted include hole dynamics for the gain, and wetting-layer electron dynamics for the phase.
