Abstract :
We have observed five distinct single mode groups in a quadrupole deformed microcavity with their cavity quality factors varied by several orders of magnitude. These single modes exhibit universal far-field emission patterns, which can be explained by a subtle manifestation of unstable manifolds of classical chaos in the formation of quasi-bound states.
