Abstract
The following paper presents control strategies based on pulse width modulation (PWM) for a power electronics matrix frequency converter. The control strategies do not vary with input or output frequency, and are defined by a two dimensional graphical representation of the states of the switching elements of the converter, where the axes represent the phases of the input and output voltages. The semiconductor switching elements of the converter can conduct in both directions, and for simulation purposes, are assumed to be ideal in that they can change state instantly, and have zero resistance while on, and infinite resistance while off
