Abstract
A new simple model for taking into account the main magnetic effects in an induction machine-magnetic saturation, skin effect and core losses-has been proposed. This model has been applied to an induction machine whose parameters have been determined by experimental tests. The proposed model and the conventional linear model have been compared in terms of large signal transients (online starting) and vector control (direct stator flux orientation control). The proposed model shows clearly its effectiveness over the linear model. Such a model, which takes into account the main magnetic effects, should be used for the simulation and control of induction machines in order to design control strategies for high-performance and power optimised drives
