Abstract
It is very important for the studies of the atmospheric processes involving moisture, such as cloud formation, precipitation, and the Earth-atmosphere radiation to measure the concentration vertical profile of atmospheric water vapor. Raman lidar is an efficient tool to measure the moisture profile. The L625 Raman lidar, a prototype, was developed at Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM), China, in 1999 for the experiment of measuring water vapor profile. The design of this 355 nm Nd:YAG laser instrument is described and details of the data processing are given. Examples of water vapour profiles obtained with this system in Hefei, China are presented. The observations were made in May and June of 1999
