  • Abstract
A linear high anisotropy reluctance servomotor drive is presented in the paper. The high performance capability of the motor, due to the strong anisotropy of the internal structure of the induced element, makes it suitable for servodrive applications, especially using the proposed control strategy. The strategy, obtained using an optimisation procedure, allows to obtain the maximum thrust to current ratio from the current supplied motor. Computer simulation results of a speed and position controlled drive highlight the drive performance. A laboratory version of the drive for short stroke application is tested as a position control system. Acting on the gains of the current and position control loops allows to maintain the drive on sustained oscillations which are useful for certain applications
