Abstract :
Finite-element analysis is used to determine the magnetization characteristics of a new prototype multi-tooth per stator pole switched reluctance motor. These characteristics are obtained for the two extreme positions of the rotor at different excitation currents and compared with measured values. As a part of the calculation, flux density in various parts of the machine structure and flux leaking to the stator back of core and the stator adjacent poles are determined. The magnetization characteristics are used to calculate the mean torque. Good agreement between the calculated and measured torques is achieved.<>
