Abstract :
As one of largest greenhouse gas emitters in the world, the effort of China to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission would be effective. A great achievement of vehicle GHG reduction is shown in Beijing during the Beijing Olympic Games. With some strict traffic management measures and development of public transit, modes of commuting trips changed during the Beijing Olympic Games. In order to analyze emission of GHG, emission factor and trip structure were estimated. Emission factors were set based on reviews of others´ works. Also trip structure of commuting trips was evaluated both before and during the Olympic Games by an investigation on a web site. The results showed that the ratio of private vehicles decreased, while public transit trips were increasing during the Olympic Games. Also the total emission reduction of GHG was calculated.
