Abstract :
The properties of a Pr3+:Y2SiO5 resonator are measured as an initial step towards performing strong coupling cavity QED experiments. Using photon echoes the resonator mode volume is measured as 6.99 × 10-12m3 and the ions coherence time as 68 μs.
