Abstract :
We proposed simple analog motion detection circuits based on the vertebrate retina. The circuits have functions for edge detection and generation of the motion signal. The pixel circuit for motion detection was constructed with about fifteen n-channel metal oxide semiconductor (nMOS) transistors and two capacitors. The simulation results with the simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) showed that the array of proposed circuits can generate the motion signal. The test circuit was fabricated by the discrete MOS transistors on the breadboard. The measured results of the test circuit showed that the proposed circuit can detect the motion of the object. We can expect to realize the visual sensor which is characterized by the high resolution and low power consumption by using our circuits.
