Abstract :
In this paper we studied the negative refractive index in electromagnetic periodic structures and it is shown how negative refraction can be identified from the dispersion behaviour of periodic structures, which is obtained by considering entire periodic structure as a block. The effect of spatial harmonics towards negative refraction is also presented which is neglected in past analysis.
