Abstract :
Stress testing of printers is a simple and repetitive process that is conducted before the printers may be released commercially. Unfortunately, it incurs high fixed and variable costs associated with using a PC to send print-jobs to the printer undergoing testing. This paper presents the research and development work initiated in consultation with Hewlett Packard to investigate the feasibility of replacing the PC with a programmable and reconfigurable autonomous USB device. The design and implementation of such a prototype device has been subsequently completed and presented here together with some developmental issues encountered and addressed
