Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. A low cost 0.5 watt channelized transceiver unit (CTU) for 28 GHz Local Multipoint Communication System (LMCS) application is presented. The system advantages include modularity, efficiency, flexibility, reliability, frequency agility, and sufficient fade margin designed for the Canadian system. The CTU is a modular unit with up to 8 sectorialized hub, each sector having a rectangular fan shaped beam, suitable for two-way asymmetrical communication. The individual module including signal processing unit, linear SSPA, power combiner, digital modulator, analog modulator and sectoral antenna is explained. The measured performance of the field demonstrations in Brazil and Macau is also presented.
