Abstract :
A new technique for the synthesis of conformal arrays in the full three dimensional and vectorial case is presented. The considered approach aims to alleviate the most fundamental difficulty of power synthesis problems, i.e., the possibility of the synthesis algorithm being trapped by spurious solutions. The technique exploits a generalised projections algorithm, adopting a non-conventional choice for the variables occurring in the synthesis problem. This choice turns out to be more favourable from the point of view of the trapping problem.
