Abstract :
This preliminary study reports compression gains for the predictive coding of multispectral images by using a context model that includes components from other bands. The interband component better shapes the error distributions for nontrivial compression gains. Although preliminary attempts in this study were unsuccessful, a noncausal study shows that additional gains are possible with a good causal adaptive predictor
