Abstract :
Hollow-bottle microresonators have been fabricated by a novel pressure-compensated, "soften-and-compress" method. The Q-factor and excitation efficiency show high tolerance to angular misalignments, while localized losses on the resonator result in spectral clean-up and superior performance.
