Abstract :
A simple circuit model describing the coupling between two adjacent supply zones in multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) is proposed. Measurement results confirm the model to be accurate for frequencies below the first parallel resonance of the zone planes. Design guidelines are given for the width of the cut necessary in the supply planes to provide good high frequency isolation between the zones.
