Abstract :
An offset tri-patch microstrip antenna of percentage bandwidth 48% was reported in Tong and Luk (1994). It is found that the complexity in geometry of the antenna can be modified. In the present paper, a two-layer five-patch microstrip antenna using a coplanar technique, i.e. additional patch is etched on the same layer, is investigated. A simpler geometry with similar bandwidth (44.5%) is obtained. The radiation patterns of the antenna are also presented.
