Abstract :
We are presenting a method of wideband array calibration which minimizes signal cancellation in the generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC). We calibrate the GSC, a general form of the linearly constrained adaptive beamformer, by developing the optimal blocking matrix and corresponding fixed beamformer which minimizes energy leakage of a wideband calibrating signal into the cancelling path for a given array. Experimental results using data collected from wideband arrays constructed at the University of Texas at Dallas demonstrate that our calibrated GSC performs well with actual data both in non-reverberant and reverberant environments
