Abstract
Many medium access control protocols have been proposed for wireless networks. However, most of the existing network protocols, such as CSMA/CA, RAP, etc., only support data transmission, and do not support real-time services such as voice transmission. We propose a reservation scheme for the randomly addressed polling (RAP) protocol for wireless local area networks to make it possible to support real-time integrated voice/data communication services. Throughput and average access delay for this new scheme are computed and compared
