Abstract :
As emergency scenarios arise it is essential that the operator of a nuclear power station is not overloaded with irrelevant information. Thus the need for informative monitoring systems as an integral part of the nuclear plant are necessary to ensure the workload of the operator is not unduly increased, especially during high stress situations. A fuzzy safety monitoring system for the early detection of steam links in Royal Navy nuclear steam raising plant is described. The system is based on an interpretation into a set of fuzzy rules of the internal representation of a supervisor employed in monitoring given plant parameters
