Abstract :
An analog-to-digital conversion is necessary when conventional PC/workstation is to drive an LCD flat panel display. In this paper a CMOS triple 3-bit, 80 MSPS 3.3 V graphic digitizer that can be used up to the VESA standard of XGA (1024×768, 224 colors, 75 Hz refresh rate) is presented. It integrates three digitizing channels, each consisting of a high-performance pipeline ADC, and independently programmable clamping and gain functions (PGA). Moreover it contains a digital phase locked loop. All programming of the part is done via an industry-standard normal/fast I2C interface supporting both reading and writing of register settings
