Abstract :
This paper describes an application of the ERS210 Sony robot as a mobile video surveillance system. The robot is completely autonomous, moving itself throughout the environment, avoiding obstacles, thus imposing no threat to itself neither to others. The robot is able to photograph moving targets and send the pictures back to a surveillance server. It also acknowledges commands to execute several actions, such as moving, stopping or emitting sounds. As a security measure, an alarm signal is emitted whenever the robot is picked up. The first experiences performed on our lab showed the effectiveness of the system. The robot is able to detect and photograph all moving targets that move in its environment, sending appropriate pictures to be stored in the surveillance server
