Abstract :
We focus on the issue of distribution of dimensions in time, describing a method, suited to different types of envelope functions used for modulation, that can generate an almost arbitrary distribution of dimensions in time with spectral efficiencies near the Nyquist limit. Subsequently, we propose a modulation scheme whereby the distribution of dimensions in time is used to carry additional information in the same bandwidth (BW). The purpose of this paper is to present systematic methods based on the theory of wavelets and filter banks to generate almost arbitrary distributions of dimensions in time, achieving the highest spectral efficiency in a given BW. An application to coded modulation is examined
