Abstract
In this paper, we proposed a smart scheduling algorithm (S2A) for supporting multimedia traffic in IEEE 802.11e HCCA. Based on the accurate traffic prediction, S2A allocates transmission opportunity (TXOP) for each flow efficiently, and computes optimal service interval (SI). Preliminary evaluations showed that the predictions on the next VBR frame size and its expected arrival time at AP are very accurate. Thus, we expect that S2A can fully utilize the actual traffic characteristics for the efficient TXOP allocation and SI computation.
