Abstract :
The battlefield is experiencing an explosion in the use of video in C3I systems. Video is being applied to solving many different problems in the tactical environment. Each of these problems has specific requirements that the video system must meet and these requirement vary widely between applications. This paper discusses the various applications of video in the tactical battlefield, the requirements on the video system for those applications, the characteristics of video systems, and the video techniques which are applicable to those systems
