Abstract :
Wide band amplifiers with multi-octave frequency response are required for instrumentation, high data rate fibre-optic communications systems and electronic warfare applications. This paper describes the distributed or travelling wave amplifier (TWA) design approach as a means of realising such frequency band widths. The principle of the TWA design is first outlined, and then the details of the practical realisation in an MMIC environment are discussed using designs fabricated on GMMT´s H40 Foundry
