Abstract
The design of a four element real-time multistage CMA adaptive beamformer is presented. Processing is done on Applied Signal Technology´s B104 digital tuner/processor card set containing two TMS320C50 digital signal processors. This processing power is sufficient to run two stages of the algorithm, thereby capturing up to two cochannel signals. Through the use of calibration tables, and from data available directly from the algorithm, the system can also estimate the direction of arrival of the signals captured. The paper describes the system in some detail, and presents results of its performance in a real-world operating environment. It is shown that the system is capable of significantly improving the SINR of signals degraded by cochannel interference
