Abstract :
The application of electric resistance furnaces, which is well known in many branches of industry, requires a dynamic furnace model for the design of suitable controllers. Such a model can be determined by process identification. The multifrequency binary signal (MBS) method is applied. The switch-on transient from the output is removed by the rotation of the MBS input signal. The experiment time can be minimized to a one sequence duration using rotated MBS. A priori knowledge of the time constant is the only information about the system required to determine the optimal switching point. The accuracy of the results obtained during the first rotated sequence is nearly the same as these obtained by the MBS performed in the fifth sequence
