Abstract :
In wireless communication, the power consumption of the digital signal processing (DSP) circuitry has previously been shown to be relevant for shorter communication distances compared to the traditional believe where the power consumption related to the actual transmission is dominant in the overall power budget. The power consumption in the different parts of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system was exploited in order to enable a trade-off between implementation accuracy and complexity in the different parts of the system. The applications of the results of this experiments performed demonstrate the indication of how trade-offs can be used by the designer to reach an overall cost optimized design.
