Abstract :
The IPv6 is an inevitable technology for the ubiquitous home network due to the increasing numbers of the consumer electronics (CEs) and the explosive demands for the home network services which requires end-to-end connectivity through the Internet. In order to provide services based on the IPv6 in the home network, the home-to-home tunneling and IPv4/6 transition mechanisms are required due to the late deployment of the IPv6 in the public network. The paper proposes a deployment strategy and evaluates the performances of the IPv6 home network on the test-bed using the home server, which establishes connections between CEs and the Internet. Additionally the paper also proposes a novel IPv4/6 transition mechanism (proxy ARP/NDP for NAT-PT) to support interoperability among various IPv4/6 based CEs within a home network.
